Mr. Johnnie C Fizer, KJ5AXQ, has accepted the position of Emergency Coordinator (EC) for Polk County in District 2 of the South Texas Section. District 2 is composed of Angelina, Houston, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, and Walker County. Johnnie replaces Mr. Donald LaRue, N5LER, Johnnie was recommended by DEC 2 Mr. James “Skip” Straus. W5TXT. DEC for District 2. The appointment is approved by the STX Section Manager Mr. Stuart Wolfe, KF5NIX.
Johnnie is married and retired from Mobile Pipeline Co in 2001 after 28 years of service. He was a company welder for 26 of those years. After retiring from Mobile, he was Chief Inspector for Texas Eastern Products Pipeline Company (Teppco), now Enterprise, for almost 19 Years.
Johnnie joined the Upper Lake Livingston Wireless amateur club in May of 2023. He has an amateur extra license.
Johnnie has served as an AEC for Polk County. His equipment consists of VHF, UHF and HF radios.
Johnnie has passed the FEMA IS-100 and IS-700 and is studying for FEMA IS-200 and IS-800.
The appointment was affective May 7, 2024.
